What to do in Toronto: August 8-14

Monday the 8th: Are you a fan of Woody Allen? If so, head over to the JCC for a Talk on Woody Allen @ 7pm

Tuesday the 9th: What Simpsons fan wouldn’t want to show off their wealth of knowledge? Check out the Woo Hoo! Classic Simpsons Trivia @ Gladstone @ 8pm

Wednesday the 10th: The classic musical movie Fiddler on the Roof screens as part of  TIFF in the Park @ David Pecaut Square @ 8:30pm free

Thursday the 11th: There’s lots going on this Thursday, but my highlight is the Open Roof Festival @ Amsterdam Brewery @ 8pm where Locomotive 8 will start off the night and the doc Rodman Flender’s Conan O’Brien Can’t Stop  will screen. Also, SPiN Toronto will be in the house for some ping pong action. Also on Thurs is Moonstruck with director Norman Jewison and stars Olympia Dukakis and John Patrick Shanley in attendance @ TIFF Bell Lightbox @ 7pm.

Friday the 12th: I Vespri Sicillani is the second screening as part of Opera in the Garden @ The Italian Consulate @ 9pm. So grab a blanket and some snacks and lay down under the stars to take in some opera. Or, around the corner at the Toronto Underground Cinema there’s Marvelesque: An Evening of Marvel Themed Burlesque @ 9pm. Or, if you’re booty wants a philanthropic bounce, bound over to Brassaii for Booty Bash @ 10pm

Saturday the 13th: Check out the Conscious Food Festival @ Fort York @ 11-8pm and/or the Descant Charity Garage Sale to help promote Canadian writers and literacy @ 245 Markham @ 10-4pm.

Sunday the 14th: A nice Sunday on the Toronto Island at the ALL CAPS Island Festival is a great way to wind down a weekend.
