Canada Day Drinktivities

I love Canada Day! Everyone’s out and about and in a good mood. My day…make that afternoon…began with sipping some scrumptious cocktails on the Brassaii patio while listening to DJ Class!ck spin our soundtrack.

It was a bummer that during an afternoon patio party the kitchen was closed, but luckily the beverages were delicious enough to make a liquid snack.

Summer Elyxr: Absolute Elyx vodka, Aperol, fresh lime juice, muddled watermelon and mint.

Lady Laura and an English 79: Beefeater London Dry Gin, St Germain Elderflower Liqueur, lemon juice, Petchaud bitters, topped with sparkling wine

When our stomachs could longer wait for the kitchen to reopen, we were then en route to Spice Route…which was conveniently only a few doors west. We chowed down on a feast of Asian appetizers while enjoying the sun on their lovely patio.

The highlight: crab cakes with spiced purple basil aioli (the Singapore rice noodles were also quite good)

The highlight of the day had to be checking out The Roots who rocked a free concert at Metro Square as part of Toronto Jazz Fest. My goodness, this band is amazing! Their energy, their presence, their skill, their range, everything was a lot of fun. It was also wonderful to see an eclectic set of people converging together and all equally enjoying themselves.

Last stop of the night was on Church Street to party it up for Pride. We found an awesome little beer garden that was raising funds for an animal shelter. Sipping delicious tequila cocktail coolers and beer, dancing on sand to a DJ spinning genre and decade jumping tracks made for a fun time and great end to a great day!
